The Shades Hit Stores
(NEW YORK) When Jason Wu's models hit the runway in sunglasses in September, it was more than just a stylist's exercise in accessorizing. The glasses, created in conjunction with eyewear boutique Modo, marked Wu's first foray into accessory design, and are hitting stores this month. "Launching an eyewear collection felt like a natural progression for the Jason Wu brand," Wu explained. "The pieces combine sleek, modern finishes, which I love, with unusual materials and details. I wanted to put my stamp on an item which would be accessible to a broader market and with an inherently chic connotation--sunglasses."
The shades are available in four styles (two of which are unisex), with four to five finishes per style. The Seberg, a cat-eye shape with metal brow detail, the Earhart, an oversized aviator, the Jett, a gradiated wayfarer-style, and the Mia, a classic oversized style will each retail for $275. "We are honored and very excited about this collaboration, which fits perfectly within our brand portfolio," said Modo CEO Alessandro Lanaro. "Jason is one of the most talented designers of our time. His use of luxurious fabrications, attention to details and youthful attitude, fit perfectly with Modo's product philosophy. We are thrilled to translate his fresh and unique statement into eyewear."
