Tadashi Shoji - New York Spring 2009
(NEW YORK) Tadashi Shoji created a celestial light effect on the ceiling of the Bryant Park tent for his runway show. This same fractal-like pattern was translated into his chic eveningwear in several sophisticated prints. The collection was largely white and grey with pops of color, like ultramarine and sunburst yellow. The flapper dresses seemed slightly out of place, but on the whole the eveningwear was exacting and polished. Particular standouts were a dove grey tucked silk organza mini and a one-shoulder dove grey ombré jersey gown. Shoji's front row notable was Miss USA, Crystle Stewart, and we're sure the ladies clawing for her crown will be itching to get their hands on Shoji's gowns.
