No Show
(NEW YORK) Alberta Ferretti's chic showings of her Philosophy collection tend to draw quite the crowd. Everyone from top eds like Franca Sozzani and Ingrid Sischy to celebrities like Eva Amurri and Padma Lakshmi decamps to Eyebeam Studios during her usual Sunday evening slot. Models hit the runway in waves, while socials sip champers and take in all that fashion.
For this February's Philosophy show, however, things will be a bit different. Ferretti has decided to downsize and cancel the usual spectacle in favor of an informal presentation of the collection. The exact format is still under consideration, but it is not clear that Ferretti herself will come to New York during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
After many years of showing in Milan, Ferretti moved the Philosophy show to New York for the Fall 2007 season, intending to cater to a younger clientele in search of modern designs at an accessible price point. Celebrity dressing became a major focus for the brand, and on November 12, 2008, Ferretti opened her second store in the United States on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles with a star-studded bash attended by Debra Messing, Marisa Tomei, January Jones, Nicole Ritchie, Amy Smart, and Lucy Liu.
Fret not, Ferretti aficionados--she will still be on hand to show her eponymous collection in Milan in late February. But chicsters are sure to miss her fabulous post-show dinners, held at New York hotspots. Remember last September's feast at the Little Owl?
