(LOS ANGELES) Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but whoever said pearls were second best evidently never met Susan Casden. The doyenne of West Coast society—and reportedly Chanel’s top U.S. couture client—along with her husband, Alan, threw open the doors to their Beverly Hills manse Tuesday to host a Chanel fine jewelry dinner in honor of Les Perles de Chanel, the company’s luxurious new capsule of eye candy pieces.

No detail was overlooked at the sit-down dinner—lobster bisque, filet mignon, and chocolate mousse served inside a massive tent erected on the grounds of the home—from the all-white banquets (which were actually made for Alan’s 60th birthday dinner) to the mother of pearl silverware and even the table cloths, which boasted a quilted pattern that mimicked dining on a white Chanel bag.

Tatianna Sorokko, Carla Sands, Patricia Kennedy, Anne Teardye, Nicole Richie, Elizabeth Stewart, Kelly Carlson, and Casden’s daughter, Alyssa Fung, in her mother’s vintage Chanel dress from the 1980s, were among the 150 guests (on Election Day, no less) privy to the special unveiling of the high-priced baubles—which themselves were displayed in dazzling manner along an expansive, candle-lit table with none of the fingerprint-inviting glass covers of its nearby Rodeo Drive boutique. “Wouldn’t this be the best Christmas present for Elizabeth?” Kristin Davis purred of the diamond-encrusted pearl drop earrings. “I’m hoping they’ll gift one of these J12s to me!,” mused a wishful-thinking Cameron Silver. “It's such user-friendly luxury.”
