St. Jude Design Dreams

Comments | | Print

(NEW YORK) The fashion flock has supported many causes, and at the end of the month, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be the latest recipient of the charitable cheer. The third annual Design Cares event, co-chaired by Reynaldo Davis Carter and Dawn Gallagher, will present Kaleidoscope of Dreams, taking place April 30 at the Lexington Avenue Armory, featuring a runway show and auction benefitting the hospital. The likes of Alberta Ferretti, Badgley Mischka, Carolina Herrera, Catherine Malandrino, Chado Ralph Rucci, Diane von Furstenberg, Gucci, J. Mendel, John Galliano, Luca Luca, Maggie Norris Couture, Marc Jacobs Collection, Matthew Williamson, Michael Kors, Narciso Rodriguez, Nicole Miller, Reem Acra, Valentino, Vera Wang, Versace, and Yigal Azrouël have designed evening gowns that will be modeled (by socialites, celebrites, and mannequins alike) in a runway walk-a-thon for St. Jude Design Cares, with every dress auctioned off at the event and online to benefit the hospital.

In addition to the show from the famed designers on the catwalk, two relative unknowns—for now!—will be presenting their designs. Two young girls, St. Jude cancer patients with fashion designer dreams, have sketched gowns that will be created for the runway by Christian Siriano and Tian Justman (an emerging designer and former St. Jude patient and cancer survivor). Siriano will play double-duty for the night: the former Project Runway winner will co-host the event along with Chanel Iman and Phillip Bloch.
